This summer, Nantucket by Design celebrated color with an exclusive pop-up. Benjamin Moore, Pooky Lighting, and Kassatex joined forces at the iconic Boathouse at 7 Easy Street, overlooking the harbor. The event, called the Color Collective, featured immersive experiences led by designer Eileen Kathryn Boyd, the creative director of neighboring Ten Easy Street.

Personalized Color Consultations

Guests explored their style through Benjamin Moore’s Color Edit sessions, guided by color expert Shani Breiman of Style by Shani. These personalized consultations helped attendees discover hues that matched their personalities, highlighting the connection between color, design, and self-expression. The sessions were designed to be interactive, allowing guests to look into their creative preferences and understand how color can reflect their individuality.

On July 15, the Color Collective hosted an invite-only event with Flower magazine and Ten Easy Street. Participants engaged in a hands-on Shades of Color workshop, decorating Pooky lampshades with Benjamin Moore paints. Inspired by Nantucket’s coastal charm, attendees experimented with color and pattern, transforming classic shades into unique pieces that captured the island’s lively environment.

A Creative Gathering

Over three days, more than 100 design enthusiasts visited the pop-up, mingling and exchanging ideas in a waterfront setting that amplified the event’s focus on color’s transformative power. Curated cocktails by PPX Events and light bites added to the festive atmosphere. The event brought together a diverse community of designers, creatives, and brand representatives, supporting connections and inspiring collaboration.

Margot Shaw, Flower’s founder and editor-in-chief, praised the event: It invited people to create, connect, and be inspired. The seamless collaboration between Benjamin Moore, Pooky Lighting, and Kassatex, along with the design community, made the experience unforgettable. Notable attendees included Regan Iglesia, chief marketing officer at Pooky Lighting, and Suzanne Cooper, national home furnishings director at Flower, who engaged with guests and shared insights into the event’s creative process.

Hands-On Workshops and Displays

Attendees also had their fashion colors analyzed at the Benjamin Moore Color Edit space, curating personal palettes that aligned with their style. Custom Designer Edit Cards showcased the signature paint colors used during the event, providing a tangible takeaway that blended design and individuality. These cards became cherished mementos, allowing guests to recreate the event’s color schemes in their own spaces.

A Lasting Impression

The event left a lasting mark with its focus on creativity and community. Guests transformed lampshades into keepsakes, drawing inspiration from Nantucket’s hydrangeas and coastal vibe. The collaboration between brands and designers created an elegant, memorable experience that celebrated design’s ability to inspire and connect. Participants left with a deeper appreciation for color’s role in self-expression and a renewed sense of creativity.
